20th Siargao National Surfing Cup: Registration Rules and Regulations

The Philippine Surfing Championship Tour (PSCT) is the country’s first-ever annual professional surfing competition where surfers from all over the Philippines tour around different surf spots–battling for the top spots in the national ranking.

Already in its second year, the PSCT is the only professional surfing competition that gathers top talent from all parts of the Philippines. Opening this year’s tour is the 20th Siargao National Surfing Cup this September 23—27, 2018 in Cloud 9—famous for world-class barrels and crystal clear waters.

I. 64 Slot Limit for the Men’s Open Shortboard Category

There are only 64 slots available for the Men’s Open Shortboard Category.

16 Slots – Top 16 of the PSCT 2017 overall ranking
24 Slots – Siargao Surfers
24 Slots – Non-Siargao Surfers

For Siargao Surfers (not part of PSCT Top 16):

Siargao surfers who did not make it to the PSCT Top 16 must coordinate with the Siargao Island Surfers Association (SISA) for the details of the local qualifiers. The selected 24 surfers must register online.

For non-Siargao Surfers (not part of PSCT Top 16):

Registration is online on 31 August 2018.

Non-Siargaonon surfers from ranking 17-100 from last year’s overall tour ranking will be prioritized. Should there be remaining slots, surfers who registered who are not part or are beyond rank 100 will go on a first come first served basis.

II. 32 Slot Limit for the Juniors Category

20 slots – Siargao Juniors
12 slots – Non-Siargao Juniors

Age requirement: Must be 17 years old until December 31, 2018.

If a surfer is aged 17 on the dates of the competition will turn 18 after the first leg until December 31, 2018, the surfer is ineligible to join this category for the whole 2018 season and beyond.

Guardian: Junior surfers must be accompanied by a guardian throughout the whole competition. Guardians must also sign the waiver required to join this competition.

Document Required: Birth certificate or school ID with birthday

For Siargao Juniors:

Please coordinate with SISA for the selection of official Siargao representatives. PSCT will exclusively coordinate with SISA regarding this. Copy of birth certificates must be submitted to SISA on or before 19 September 2018.

For non-Siargao Juniors:

Registration is online. First come, first served basis.
Birth certificate to be emailed as a reply to the confirmation email once your registration has been accepted by our system.

III. One Category per Surfer

A surfer may only register for one category.

The following categories available are:

Men’s Open Shortboard – 64 slots only
Junior’s Shortboard – 32 slots only

IV. Student Surfers and Waivers

All surfers currently studying or enrolled in school must provide an excuse letter signed by their school adviser or principal signifying their permission to excuse the student from class to join the competition.

Surfers under 18 years-old must submit a waiver signed by their parent or guardian.

Surfers above 18 years-old must also submit a waiver signed by them.

V. Online Registration

This year, in an effort to reduce paper waste, PSCT is going paperless for the competition registration. We know registration can be a chore so we encourage sponsors and supporters of our surf athletes to please assist them in the whole registration process—online registration and payment.

Registration will be done online, no more manually filling out forms and queueing—no more on-ground or walk-in registrations.

Registration will start on 31 August 2018 at 8:00 am Philippine Standard Time (PST).

Sign-ups before this time will be NOT be considered.

Registration will close on 2 September 2018 at 5:00 pm.

Shortlisted applicants will be announced on 3 September 2018 at 5:00pm

VI. Payment Details

Only shortlisted applicants are entitled to proceed with the registration. They can pay via:

a. Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI)

Bank branch: 0854 Tuguegarao College Avenue

Proof of payment (deposit slips, receipts, email confirmations and the like) should be sent as a reply to the confirmation email you will receive after signing up. Please attach all documents in the same e-mail thread under your name to membership@psctour.com

Also note that the submission of your proof of payment, and not the payment itself, will be the basis for the confirmation of shortlisted applicants (those who were awarded the 24 slots).

Last day of payment is on 7 September 2018, 5:00 pm.

Submissions done beyond this date will not be accepted and may cause the surfer to lose his slot. The payment will be refunded and the slot will be provided for the next surfer in line.

The final list of participants will be posted on the PSCT website and announced through our Facebook page.
